Position Summary

McCormick Taylor has an immediate opening for a Traffic Engineer. This position will report to our office in either Glen Allen or Verona, VA though there is a possibility to "work from home" from anywhere in the state of Virginia, understanding the need to travel to the office periodically. The primary duties are to serve in a technical role under the direction of a Project Manager on the engineering development of various transportation projects. 

Job Responsibilities

• Understanding of project traffic engineering operations and design components is required. Projects are likely to range from concept development and preliminary engineering studies to final design. The position will entail signing and pavement marking design, traffic signal design, Intelligent Transportation Systems design, traffic impact analysis, capacity and operational analysis, traffic simulation modeling, and crash/safety studies. Job duties also include assisting project managers on design review and permitting, evaluating opportunities, and assisting in business development efforts. This position will include assisting offices throughout the company allowing the candidate to gain exposure to clients outside of Virginia. 

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering
• 5 years of experience or equivalent working knowledge/experience in the field of traffic engineering
• Professional Engineering License required
• Familiarity with VDOT and other federal, state , and local analysis and design criteria/specifications
• Hands-on experience with common traffic engineering software including Synchro, and HCS (VISSIM a plus)
• Ability to work on multiple assignments and be accountable for project/task schedules and budgets
• Strong communication and technical writing skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite
• Experience working in MicroStation and ProjectWise
• Ability to independently complete projects on schedule and under budget
